Question about E120 American Caramel
1 Attachment(s)
The cards have some sort of symbol toward the bottom of the player's photo.
Does anyone know what it signifies? Even with a magnifying glass, I'm having difficulty making it out. It appears to be either IF or IP inside of two circles with an 'S' to the right. Here's my Walter Johnson as an example: Attachment 239125 I have other E120s and they have the same symbol. |
I believe that all E120s have a symbol. While I am not 100% certain, I always figured that this one referenced being copyrighted by the International Film Service, one of Hearst's companies that competed with the AP (Associated Press) and UP (United Press).

Raymond, this info:
"Many of the photos carry initials identifying the company that provided the picture, CIFS, for example, stands for Copyright by International Features Service. CU&U is Copyright by Underwood & Underwood." comes from this web site: http://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com...ar-1920s-sets/ |
Thanks Kevin and Val.
I knew I could depend on at least a few board members knowing the answer. Fascinating! Thanks, Raymond |
