OT Paypal is having payment problems

Just wanted to let the board know that Paypal is experiencing problems with their payment function.

Long story short, I tried paying another board member for a purchase with Paypal and their system won't allow you to type in any email address/account to send payment. I have spoken with Paypal on the phone and was told that they are aware of the issue and trying to fix it.

The Paypal employee said that other people were experiencing this problem as well.

Okay, back to baseball cards.

Okay, back to baseball cards.

Paypal wouldn't let me pay for an ebay auction last night. I tried several times, through the normal ebay way....and it kept getting denied and said to try again later. Eventually it worked but that is the first time I ever recall seeing that happen, in my many years.

Thank you for replying Leon.

I guess I'm not the only one.

The problem I am experiencing with them is that I can't enter anyone's email/account name to send a payment.

I dealt with the same issue last week. No problems today.

I am having the exact same issue. First time for me too.

FWIW, I was able to pay for a Ebay auction I won last night with my PayPal account this morning.

Hopefully they are not installing a Malaysian software fix

They are installing pop ups. :) BTW, it's working fine for me now.... it was only those 20 minutes or so last night.

I will add that the Paypal employee was very helpful and tried her best to resolve the problem, but it is clearly out of her hands.

Was that by any chance around the same time that there were slow downs on the site here?

I'm thinking that Leon broke both! :D

There was an industry wide Internet Security Protocol changeover within the last week that may have had something to do with it. Had some hiccups with some orders on my websites also. Only reason I found out about them was customers contacted me separately when they couldn't check out.

Would be nice if Paypal would let us know when things aren't operating correctly.

For anyone with a livelihood wrapped up in paypal, you will be delighted to know that paypal recently announced that the merchant rate of 2.2% for users with over $10k/month in volume is now being done away with. It appears soon, all ebay sellers will be paying the same 2.9% no matter their volume. Hopefully the email I received that said this is a spoof.

Nope. :(

Yesterday I had a momentary glitch when I tried to transfer received funds to my bank. It was sort of spinning it's wheels but worked fine on second try.
Today, about an hour ago, no problem at all.

That's about right...I guess all of the savings I just now realized from the updated ebay anchor store rates will be slotted to cover this paypal increase.
