1956 Topps sp's?
Without looking to see if this is a duplicate thread, I wanted to discuss the inclusion in older price guides of selected players cards as premiums without a specific reason.
In 1956: #268 a common player, #280 Gilliam, and #288 Cerv. Ok Gilliam maybe, but the other 2 guys? Someone long ago labeled these as tough and it's stuck. Now I'm not convinced that ebay buyers have followed suit in terms of a premium purchase price, but where's the support for the increase in value. In 1962, #570 and #572 same thing We all know the 66 and 67 high number stories so common players get a pass on this discussion in those years. Also, as long as I'm on a roll, does anyone think that the last 8 cards of the 62 set (Rookie cards) were a separate printing from the rest? Comments welcome. BillP |
