Peter Nash's Cooperstown Lakefront Property to be Auctioned
Beautiful lakefront property owned by self-proclaimed crusading hobby do-gooder and ex-rap star, Peter Nash is to be sold at a foreclosure auction on July 15. The property was ordered sold by the court according to the Freeman's Journal, Cooperstown's local newspaper. In addition to the Rochester Bank that holds the mortgage, it is believed that there are additional liens for monies owed to Robert Fraser and Robert Lifson.
|
The foreclosure was made easier when his bankruptcy filing was dismissed November 13, 2015 due to failure to file information. Lifson had filed a motion for relief from automatic stay in the bankruptcy case. Any party with a claim against the bankrupt party can file for relief of the automatic stay from enforcement of the lien which occurs when the bankruptcy is filed.

Hi Tom and Michael!
It does appear the foreclosure sale of the house will occur on July 15, 2016 but from past experience I know that anything can happen. I am hoping the sale will actually occur this time, but this has been going on a long time so I don’t want to take anything for granted. In 2007 the foreclosure sale was averted when $50,000+ in mortgage payment funds were (improperly) sent from the Bishop Ford High School’s development fund: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/hi...ticle-1.165416 http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/hi...ticle-1.120872 Last time it was going to be sold in 2015, the sale was called off/delayed due to Peter Nash’s filing bankruptcy: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/ite...ntry-1.2335827 So anything can happen. But if the foreclosure sale does finally occur as currently scheduled on July 15, 2016, hopefully there will be sufficient excess funds after the bank is paid (and any taxes that also take precedence, if any) to satisfy in whole – or at least in part - Peter Nash’s outstanding fraud judgments. I’ve never seen the property but am told it is a great lakefront property and may do very well. Obviously, as a fraud victim of Nash with an outstanding fraud judgement I am trying to collect, I hope it does extremely well! Sincerely, Robert Lifson |
Although the house is in disrepair, it is one of the nicest lots on beautiful Otsego Lake. There is a lot of interest according to local realtors and it is likely to do very well at auction.

what this is literally a waterfront property... no way he will leave any cards behind in the attic though or in a brown bag

I heard his walls (in the house) look like this:

That looked like a roof actually,.
But i dont take any joy of anyone losing their house, if its their main house and they have kids they are raising which i dont know if thats the case or not. Plus its bad karma If i was a victim and the sale was to pay me back something, that would be different. |

It was a summer home and the house has been vacant for over a decade.

Hopefully his walls will eventually look like the bottom picture. Almost no one deserves a nice bed more than ole Petey...Seems he has been a bit silent lately?

I drove around the lake about three weeks ago. There are so few homes on the lake itself that any would go for huge dollars no matter the condition!
Absolutely beautiful area! I love the t-shirts at the Dugout Cafe "Cooperstown, a Drinking town with a Baseball Problem." |
Did the property actually sell so that Rob could be paid back?

Any update on the house and law suits that were against him? I wonder where his "ghost" writers will turn up next? Looks like no activity on his website.

There was a new post a couple hours ago: http://haulsofshame.com/blog/?p=37266#more-37266

Looks like they are going to try and auction it off again.

I'm a bit late with this, but can anyone summarize the drama between Nash and Lifson? I enjoy reading Nash's blog but I want to hear the board's opinion on it. Are the accusations on that blog true or false?

What's the asking price or min. bid ?

Manny, the short version based on my recollection is that Rob advanced a large sum to Nash for items that were to be auctioned by REA. Some of the items turned out to be not authentic, others Nash did not even own. Lifson got a large judgment against Nash, a judgment based on fraud and therefore not dischargeable in bankruptcy. He has spent years trying to collect the judgment and Nash has done everything possible to avoid paying. Lifson is not the only creditor who has a judgment against Nash. Nash has spent much of his time trying to discredit Rob on his blog mostly by bringing up things that happened 40 years ago. I had a house near the lake just a few hundred feet from the Nash property. I saw him once in 12 years when he was cleaning out the place. A big Mercedes sedan sat rotting away in the driveway and didn't move in all that time. Mention Peter Nash's name to any local folks in Cooperstown who have been around a while and you will see a lot of cringing and eye rolling. It's a really interesting blog that reads like a true crime book, but I often wonder if the posts are biased, despite the evidence he presents. Sometimes he'll post an autograph and claim that is obviously fake, but when you look at it, it's anything but obvious, and may in fact be real..
