Why?

Because $17.76 (this is 4th of July weekend; gotta have some fun with it) multiplied by two because of the 2 cards, is $35.52. Add $18.12 (the War of 1812, which is what our National Anthem, The Star Spangled Bannger is based on) twice because of there being two cards, and you get $71.76. Move those numbers around, and you're back to 1776.
