Have to say that my heart jumped a bit. Did not expect this to be in a random box!! This one is better than the "good" one in my set and 100x better than my "2" that is in my beater set.

Always good to start the week off right.

It's a reprint, I'll give you $5 for it. :p

Great find!

Found this under my bed, but it looks trimmed, so I think I'll probably just throw it out.

54 Aaron

I bought my 54 Aaron from Matt's Dad in his shop in Austin Texas back in 1988. In fact I bought a complete 1954 set from him. His Dad then treated me to a steak dinner on 6th street.

Unlike Matt, his Dad is a good guy :) ( only kidding as to Matt)

Thanks Al. My dad feels the same way about you. It boggles my mind to think of all the cool items that passed through his hands at that shop. #1 that I've heard about was a shotgun presented to Tris Speaker as an award from MLB, had a little plaque on it.

Just watched Sandlot last night with my son. There's a scene where the ghost of Babe Ruth grabs this very card (nice looking 54T in a completely anachronistic screw-down) off a kid's desk and asks if he can have it.

Nice find Matt!! Tell your Dad to come do some more shows. I had a great time chatting with him last time.

Nice Find! I remember going to your dad's store in the late 80's. I was probably 13-14 years of age and my mom would bring me there. I believe it was off peyton gin or something like that. Good times!

Laxcat 06-29-2016 08:21 AM

Thanks guys. I'll try to get him to do more shows. You are correct in the location. Peyton Gin, or now, Payton Gin Rd. Late 80's ? I was the rugrat running around behind the counters!

Rich Klein 06-30-2016 06:27 AM

Next you'll find that 1949 Bowman Paige you always wanted ;)
