FS: 1968 Topps Ryan 1st graded GAI 8.5

I sent this card for grading back when GAI first started. I pulled the card out of an original untouched 68 Topps set, from an old time collector in southern Indiana. The card looks flawless. I've decided to part with it. Seems this card is bringing some serious $. Please message me if interested with your offer. Thanks! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...1521745e51.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...d92dfaa525.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...af95d87fe6.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...468af40f23.jpg

Think most of us would be hesitant to buy a GAI graded card especially sight unseen. Not sure any GAI graded material is bringing anything close to what a PSA example would sell for. I think it would be in your best interest, since you know your source, to break it out and submit it to PSA. Even if it only gets an 8 you will still be way ahead of the game. Good luck.

When I posted above I did not realize that you actually submit to PSA, which you imply here http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=224378. Wondering why, with the impeccable provenance, this card still resides in a GAI holder? Thanks

I am interested in the card but would want to know your price and what PSA said when you attempted to cross.

Something else I am a bit confused about. You claim to be the original submitter to GAI but this card has changed hands quite a bit since 2008 so it is pretty amazing that you were able to end up with it again and can now offer it here.

5/18/08 on eBay south-florida-heat sold it to t-bone56
7/21/08 on eBay vintagerookies sold it to ericbristol98
8/10/08 on eBay ericbristol98 sold it to munchbot
11/27/08 on eBay munchbot sold it to 1***o
7/31/10 on eBay bigboydsportscards3 sold it to s***t

So 5 or 6 others have owned it and obviously none of them successfully crossed it either. Hmmm. Well, hopefully the OP is in fact the original submitter and somehow got the card back, and isn't just BSing us.

From May 2008 to November 2008, the card changed hands 4X every month or two - just about enough time for the new owner to attempt to cross it over, have it rejected, and then try to flip it again to try and get their money back.

buy the card not the holder!

Good job guys.

What's wrong with the card that it won't cross to a 7?

botn 06-23-2016 07:34 PM

Actually the first time this card sold was in 2007 but there were no ebay ids listed with the transaction so I did not bother listing the sale. The OPs silence on this matter speaks volumes. I could probably find out who the original submitter was but I think we know everything we need to about this one.

Something is terribly wrong here as I have had this card in my possession since it was submitted. I just noticed all the comments. I have no reason to BS. How do you know or see it has changed hands?? If it has, there is another one with the same label info. I have a PSA 8 and this 8.5 looks nicer.

Ok I don't see any numbers or scans of the back on VCP. Mine is definitely a different card, you can tell by looking at left to right centering.

Why not send it in to PSA with a minimum grade of 7.5? or they return it to you without taking it out of holder.

I know when i had a GAI card most offers were for a psa of 2 grades lower....i was able to get the card crossed to PSA, one grade lower and made more than my asking when it was a gai card..

I'll try it! Appreciate all the feedback.

Of course now if we never hear back from you, we will assume PSA didnt accept the min grade ...

Halbig Vintage 09-17-2016 09:22 PM

I'll post the results. I did just get an 8 back from PSA.. the GAI looks just as good.
