Opinion on Gehringer baseball
Hi,
My only question regarding this ball is the inscription. I have never heard of a forged Charlie Gehringer ball before, but the numbers on the inscription are a bit different from the examples I have seen before. This ball comes with a SGC COA. I found one ball online from a Goldin Auction with JSA COA that has the same type of numbers. Otherwise, the other examples are different. Thanks for the help. http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/...psxgkynanf.jpg |
It's good. He signed with quite a few different inscriptions.

Always a nice autograph and really classy looking. He must have cared how he signed to make it a nice autograph. Wish some of todays players signed like that.

He was not very talkative at show signings
...but he was quietly polite and focused carefully on each signature.
IMHO, a true gentleman. But that is only from my limited number of interactions with him in the late 1980's and very early 1990's. If I recall correctly, the shows were Jim Hawkins productions in the greater Detroit area. |
I have a few signed balls and a couple dozen signed cards from him and it all looks good to me.
