Memorial Day 2016

A very heartfelt Thank You to all the veterans as well as their families that have sacrificed so much for so many allowing the rest of us to live the lives we do. Often, we allow our busy lives to become all consuming, taking almost for granted the country we live in and the freedoms and opportunities our nation affords us. There`s a small parade and ceremony in the town in live in Monday morning, will be bringing the oldest grandchild hoping for a "teachable" moment for both of us. I encourage all forum members, as in the past years, to thank a vet and reflect on all the "gifts" their efforts have secured for us. " America Surely is, The Beautiful" !

Surely in agreement with the OP. One of the most important holidays in my mind. A nonsport card in honor of those that sacrificed.Attachment 232892

If it weren't for the sacrifices of these brave men and women and the grace of God, we wouldn't be able to do any of this. Thank you.

I would like to add that this holiday is not to honor all veterans, this holiday is a memorial for those that made the ultimate sacrifice and died protecting our nation. I keep their families in my thoughts and prayers this weekend.

Further to what Ed and others have said, these stats are from Friday's USA Today. Seeing these numbers really got to me. War is so horrible!

Active Duty during the First Gulf War and to my 384 brothers and sisters that I fought beside and that did not come back home; I felt your pain all of these years and live with it each and every day.

Was it worth it?

It sure was and I would do it again if given the chance!

WAR eventually will lead to PEACE and the word WAR will cease to exist.

Take care Charlie

This statue represents all the Brothers and Sisters in Arms I lost during 10 of the 17 years in uniform...you are forgotten and your memory will live forever.
