eBay: Johnny Bench Rookie PSA 10

Hi all,

I'll start by saying that I did read the FAQ, and am doing my best to post in the correct forum. If I actually posted in the wrong forum, my apologies, and please do let me know.

My dream card is a Johnny Bench rookie card, in a PSA 10. I just saw one posted on eBay, and was curious of everyone's feedback on it. Unfortunately for me, it is too rich for my wallet.

Best,
John

There is a post war discussion thread which would have been the proper place for this post. You have posted in the buy sell or trade section.

My thought is that it's an awesome card but the price seems pretty ambitious. Although as crazy as the market is right now you never know. It may look like a bargain soon. I didn't look it up but I would guess the population is pretty low.

My opinion is the one one eBay is a little high.
I know the trend right now is high grade rc selling for crazy money but the last ones to sell were in 2014 for 7600 and 9000.
My guess would be at auction this card would sell for around 15000.

Hi pokerplyr80,

Thanks for the insight on where this should have been posted. I’ll keep that in mind for the future, and should a Moderator like to move this thread, I’d appreciate it.

I too like the card. To the best of my knowledge the 1968 Topps Bench PSA 10 is pop 11.

zachclose21,

There is no other card I’d like in a PSA 10 more than this one. I was/am hoping to get one around 10K. It seems this one will be out of my price range. It will be interesting to see what it goes for as I like the card a lot, especially the spot on centering on the front side.

Best always,
John

Link?

Id say way over 15k in this market.

Great looking Bench card but a little over-priced at the moment. Not sure they will get anywhere near the asking price. The back of that card would keep me from considering buying it even if it was a more reasonable price.
Just came across this awesome PSA 9 Bench Cello that was just listed. POP 1.

Hi jb67,

That is indeed an interesting cello pack. I saw that on my Collectable app, on an auction, within the last few weeks. I was tempted to bid, but am going to hold all my card funds for possibly one day getting an elusive Bench rookie in PSA 10.

Best always,
John

If that is your heart's desire, it might be cheaper and a little more interesting to buy some centered 9s and attempt to get them bumped by PSA through a review or two.

Hi all,

Here is a link to another Johnny Bench rookie with a PSA 10 grade, but unfortunately it is priced beyond what I'm able to spend... http://www.sportsmemorabilia.com/spo...FVYdgQodfnYPNA

I see there are also a couple of PSA 9 versions of the card on eBay, but I'm unsure if I'll make a bid on those or not.

Best always,
John

It's the same card from eBay.

How does that card get a 10 with that back?

Hi 4815162342,

I had not realized that was the same card as on eBay. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I appreciate it. I do agree I’ve seen cards with more centered backs. That said, with these asking prices I’m thinking I might never get to own a PSA 10. But if so, I’m glad to own my Bench rookie I bought many years ago.

Best,
John

I was just thinking the same thing!! There is no way that is a 10!!

I'll take his '68 Kahn's rookie in high grade for the long haul. But then, I'm not a buyer of "10" flips, where the actual substantive difference between a "10" and a "9" or even high-end "8" is insubstantial in comparison to the price differential.

Happy collecting,

Larry
