Ok, so here is the plan
First of all we buy or get a crappy, fake '52 Mantle. We send it to PSA for grading, fully knowing the outcome. Step two, get somewhat ambiguous PSA flip and hang onto it. Step three, get some other wacky looking holder to surround the fake Mantle, still showing the ambiguous looking PSA flip. Step four, take pictures of all of this mess. Step five, list on ebay with a great explanation of how PSA can't tell if it's good. Step six, hope for a sucker...I am sure that would never happen though....

Just wondering . . . what does PSA and SGC do if you send them a fake? Do they send you a flip back with some bs like like "? Auth ??"? If so that's ridiculous. It's fake or its not fake. Isn't that the essence of your business to tell the difference?

I rather bid on his unopened packs and have fun, but they probably been searched and re-glued.
Oh Wow! He has a signed 51B Mantle...grab it, oh wait its not graded Auth?----I pass on it low feedback and 1 neg for 3 boxes of Griffey RC never arrived, or didn't get what he wanted for them. |
They should really just slab it and label it counterfeit.
So he's got a bunch of bids on it. What're the odds that he's shilling his own counterfeit card, in the hopes that it'll be more plausible that it's real to the suckers? I don't know what would make me feel worse about humanity, that scammers shill their own auctions, or that lots of people think that this card might be real. |

I think the above post by Chris is the same card by the same seller. Still graded '2' by PSAA, apparently. I'd be tempted to resubmit this to PSAA as I had good luck getting upgrades on Aaaron and Clementee rookies in the past. However, shipping to and from the Lost City of Atlantis takes forever. I guess it is true for everyone ... I also can never get my flips to sit still when I try to photograph them. I sent a question to the seller asking if the card is still as counterfeit as it was when listed in April, or if it has become more authentic since that time. |
You are right-- what a douche trying to place some PSA flip labels to make it look legit. Surprised he has not actually try cracking his case and insert those.
I totally forgot about posting about the PSAA label. The TPG seriously need to do away with these AUTH? labels |
I wrote a review on the listing blasting it for being an obvious fake, gave it one star for terrible; I'd have given it no stars if they'd let me. Let's see if eBay actually posts it on the listing; I doubt it.

That's a shame. They really should add a feature like that, but then again, I could see other sellers using it as a way of casting shade on another person's listing. Guess we'll just have to continue to use our common sense and let the suckers remain suckers.

Here's another very poor plan. Get lots of low grade cards, say they were bought at an estate sale.....get a fake Mickey to mix in with rest....and hope for a sucker/someone hoping for a big score. If the buyer thinks the Mantle is real, the seller gets the score.

I sent a fake ( I didn't know it was) Sporting News Thorpe to PSA a few years ago...I'll see if I can find the flip...
