Jewish Baseball Museum
Last week I launched a new website www.jewishbaseballmuseum.com ... please check it out and let me know what you think. It has over 60,000 words of content, 50 videos, stats and a trivia game. It tells the story of the 166 Jewish ball players since Lipman Pike that have played in MLB.

I love it! Looks great! Unfortunately no Rosenbaums (Great Grandmother's name) played in the big leagues.
|
How come Rod Carew isn't on here?
Isn't he Jewish? |
IIRC Rod Carew never formally converted but he did marry a nice Jewish girl :)

Excellent work on that website. A wealth of information is available. There is so much to explore. Watching some of those videos of Koufax brought back such great memories of the 60's. I plan to explore more of this website in my spare time.
Would love to visit the actual museum when it opens in Chicago. |
Thanks for all the positive feedback. If you have not already, please signup for the weekly e-mail update on the website. We still want to explore the role of Jews in ownership, labor relations, commissioner, minor leagues, broadcasting and umping. Over the next 6 months the size of the website should double. Please spread the word.

Mort Rogers program from June 22,1872 game between the Baltimore Canaries (featuring Lip Pike) and Boston.

Great name, Raoul. Brings back memories of reading Fear and Loathing when it first appeared serialized in Rolling Stone (1971). My friends and I wondered who is this writer Duke, only to later find out it was the good Dr. Thompson.

If you could scan the program I would love to display it on the website

This sounds great, I am gonna go and check that out. I have one album in my collection which is cards of Jewish sports athletes, and of course baseball is about 2/3 minimum of that album.
edit: Just did a very brief look at your site, it looks fantastic. Also I just "liked" your Facebook page. Thanks. |
What a fantastic resource! Mazel tov!
Who knew that (the other) Jose Bautista came from a kosher family in the Dominican?! If you decide to branch out into minor leaguers, I have a T209 of Harry Levy (Lynchburg Shoemakers), and I'd be happy to provide a scan. My family were among those Jews in the south (Danville, and in NC) in the early twentieth century, so I always love that card in particular. |
Site is truly impressive. Congrats on an amazing job.
If you are looking for ideas on the actual museum set up, and judging by the website I'm sure you've put a lot of study into it, check out the Yogi Berra Museum in Montclair, NJ. Small museum but likewise really intelligently done. |
Thanks...I will check it out.

What a mitzvah! One of my favorite things I own is a letter from Lester Rodney. It is stashed away in some moving box from a move I've yet to fully unpack from. Time to dig it out.
I look forward to watching the site grow. |
Very Impressive site. Thanks for sharing.
