c1930 Die Cut Mounted Photos...Anyone know the story on these?

Picked up this photo on eBay tonight...I've seen die cut photos like these around the antiques world for years but don't know anything about them...That is...don't know if they were all made by a particular company...or if they were homemade..or if lots of photography studios made them...Does anyone here know the story on them?

This one had me for some reason...the stance or something...but the 15 inch size for sure I like...Easy joe mcgee fix on the easel...pick up a free yard stick at the local hardware store...cut 12" piece and tape on with duct tape
.

Once I get in hand I may displace that metal die cut football player elsewhere and put it there...

guessing

piece is handmade and not "die-cut" and the photo/litho originated from somewhere else. According to my wife I'm rarely right so keep that thought in mind......

World war 2 time period

I have similar mounted photos of my father in his Marine Corps uniform and his brother in hisArmy uniform. I have seen others from that time period, and while I do not know for sure, I think it possible this was a fad at that time that multiple photographers offered.
