Basketball HOF Induction (Baseball HOF Connection)

Just read the below story on ESPN.

Cum Posey, inducted into the Baseball HOF in 2006, is being inducted into the Basketball HOF later this year.

I believe Cal Hubbard is in both the Baseball and Pro Football HOFs. Any other HOF members with a cross sport or other field of accomplishment HOF membership?

Wow! Had no idea Posey was connected to basketball. Makes me wonder if he ever appeared on any early basketball cards? (Team RPPCs, e.g.). Doubtful, but that would be cool.

Ric Flair is a 2 time WWE Hall of Famer....both in the same sport though...lol

Jim Brown

Brown is in both the Collegiate and Pro football hall of fame, but is widely considered one of the greatest lacrosse players of all time and is in the lacrosse hall of fame. I generally consider Brown to be a complainer, but giving the Heisman to Hornung with Brown back in 5th place in the voting that year is ridiculous. Syracuse only played like 8 games that year too

I believe Hubbard is the only other person inducted into two of the four major pro sport HOFs. He was inducted as a player in the Pro FB HOF, and as an umpire in the BB HOF.

Posey was inducted as an executive (team owner of the Homestead Grays) into the BB HOF, so there is still no one inducted as a player into more than one of the four HOFs.

I knew Hubbard and Posey weren't inducted as players but induction in any capacity to two HOF in different pursuits (not overlapping such as NCAA and Pro for the same sport) is really remarkable.

I believe there are a handful of people that have won both an Oscar and a Grammy. Which would be somewhat comparable.

There are 12 people who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony:

Richard Rodgers, Helen Hayes, Rita Moreno, John Gielgud, Audrey Hepburn, Marvin Hamlisch, Jonathan Tunick, Mel Brooks, Mike Nichols, Whoopi Goldberg, Scott Rudin and Robert Lopez.

4 others won all four, but included special or honorary awards: Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, James Earl Jones and Harry Belafonte.

Thanks to Wikipedia.

Frank Joseph "Shag" Shaughnessy is in quite a few HOFs in a bunch of sports.

The Basketball HOF is the least relevant of all the major-sports HOF's. The fact that it views itself as a "World" Basketball HOF is silly & cheapens the true NBA/Pro HOFers. The NBA should have their own HOF or perhaps the "North American Professional Basketball HOF" or something along those lines. As it is they induct Men, Women, Professional, College, Amateur, North American PLayers, Foreign Players, etc., etc. all in the same "HOF"

I feel the same way about the Hockey HOF inducting top Women players as of late as well. No way Geraldine Heaney should be inducted into a HOF that has not allowed some of the top 50 all-time point scorers in the NHL like Recchi, Andreychuk, Turgeon, Roenick, Nicholls, Damphousse, and Brind'Amour.
