Any Authors on this site?

I'm pretty serious, and have already started writing a book. I hope to one day get it published.

It will be a long and arduous process but it's something I believe I can be committed to on a part time basis for a long time.

I would like anyone who as authored anything and would be wiling to answer a few questions to PM me. I would greatly appreciate it if any of you would do so.

I know Scott Reader is on this site but that's about the only person I'm aware of.

Cheers!

Josh

Don't laugh, I wrote a book once, The Candy Apple Condor. Obviously not a baseball book. It was a children's book. Still trying to find the right publisher if anyone has a contact..

Re: Any Authors on this site?

I've authored one book that's baseball card related.

I'm wrapping up my second manuscript that's going to
be a biography-type book. The manuscript is going to
my editor on April 15th. It's my hope to have it printed
in book form later this year.

You can contact me via PM or email at star6240@att.net.

Someone needs to sticky this thread. There are several books by several folks on here that I would genuinely like to read.

I have been wanting to write a book for many years know. If I would have written a page every time I thought about it my manuscript would be complete.

I just met a few authors at my SABR meeting this weekend. I have a feeling this is the year I officially get started. It will be baseball related, but I'm note sure if it will be cardboard focused.

Well Steve,

I have about 4 pages written

All of which I'm unsure about. They're in my own words but it's things I've done research on. So it's safe to say I have no clue if that's copyright infringement or not. Most of the information I've learned about from reading SABR biographies. Then wrote the facts in my own wording.

Nothing to do with baseball

but I wrote a book bout TV news called "Even Worse Than We Had Hoped." http://www.evenworsethanwehadhoped.com or http://www.amazon.com/Even-Worse-Tha...n+we+had+hoped.

The title was something I heard an anchor say one time, referring to the amount of damage caused by a bad storm.

Not a full on book, but I had a short story published last year in Phoebe: A Journal of Art and Literature. It's published by George Mason University.

I've worked on many historiography works from 1,000 to 350,000 words as both a writer and researcher. As far a plagiarism goes, as long as your writing is in your own words *and* you properly cite any sources you use and take information from you should be okay. The key is to track down as many primary and first hand sources as you can. Especially if you are writing about a player or event, nothing can beat information that comes directly from time or people involved. Secondary sources (SABR publications for example) are great resources, however make sure to always take onto account the agenda and purpose of every secondary source you use. Finally remember that any story is worth telling if it's either never been told before or can be told in a new way or from a new voice. If it's the same story told before with just a new rearrangement of words, you have to ask if it's worth the effort of writing.

Good luck and enjoy the journey.
