52 Topps Mays question and wtb
I'm in the market for the 1952 Topps Mays. I want in 3-5 range relatively well centered. As I look at them on eBay, I can't help but notice that some have charcoal gray backgrounds, while others have a beautiful royal blue. Is that just the scans or are there 2 different backgrounds on this card?

The top one is blue. This one seems gray.

Wonder what others think about that and if they know the reason(s) why? Thanks for posting that up. :) |
With so many experts on this blog, I'm shocked no one has responded

The card you posted has been graded by PSA so I doubt it's a reprint without it being stated, unless somehow, it slipped through the cracks?? Hopefully someone who knows for sure will chime in, but maybe, like you and me, that info is hard to come by? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-Topps-R...AAAOSwUuFWub7q |

Any info I've been able to dig up has no reference to the black background. Other variations and anomalies are well known at this point so it has to be, like you mentioned, the scan or fading? http://www.psacard.com/cardfacts/bas...mays-261/23279 http://www.amerlegends.com/baseball-...aseball-cards/ http://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com...opps-baseball/ |
