Sleeves necessary for graded cards
I have bought some graded cards for a couple of player collections that I have started, but I don't have much history with graded cards. My question is about the sleeves for graded cards. Do most of you use them? Are they primarily meant to protect against scratches? I enjoy looking at my cards and the slabbed ones definitely look better without the sleeves. Just trying to determine if they are necessary.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
I use them for SGC only because the holders scratch if you so much as look at them, but not for PSA.

It's a good idea to use them. Slabs will get scratches on them. I didn't use them very much in my previous collection but am doing it more with my new one, especially the more valuable cards. You can always stack them in sleeves and take them out to look at them. That is what I do now but admittedly I don't have a lot to do.

These are what I am currently looking for for my 52 Topps cards.
Only problem is, I can't find them up here in Canada and getting them shipped, with duty, tx's and the exchange rate makes them rather expensive! I, personally, based on what little I know, think these would serve me best and provide the best protection for storage and viewing. https://www.pro-mold.com/pc52.html |
I have bought some raw cards in holders like those before. But for graded, I doubt they would work well, unless they make another type. :)

I use them for all my graded cards.

I use them for all graded cards. I like my slabs clean and scratch free.

I don't use them. I don't collect slabs, so I don't care all that much what condition they are in as long as the card itself is presentable. :) I could see how someone with an intention to sell the card or display or look at it might have a great interest in protecting it, but mine just get stacked and shoved into a safe.

I have some and use them for cards that I think I will be selling at some point. For my cards that I want to look at, I don't like another layer of plastic between me and the card, so I don't use them. I don't use them at all with PSA graded cards. They probably aren't any more scratch resistant than SGC cases, but with the clear case it is harder to see scratches.

My OCD causes me to clean and polish each slab (front & back) and then into the slab sleeve they go (with a minimum of touching).... cant help it....

Sleeve allergy personified
During his four years as an All-Star in the mid fifties, Ted hit 171 home runs but struck out only 140 times, all without sleeves.:D |
