I love to raid a dollar box👍

If I get to a show early, I hit up the deal boxes . I know a few dealers that always have a fresh box or stack, pile,Tupperware of new stuff . The ranges from 1$ to 5$ . I can't get enough !

Share some stories about your dollar box pick ups .

i picked up my first 3 e94's in a dollar box back in the 90's...although they were $4 each. Usually I dont have the patience.

I went to the National last year and I must have gone through 50+ dollar boxes. 1955 Topps VG High Numbers at a dollar a piece will always put a smile on my face!:D

Used to be a buck; now more like $10 and under boxes. I spend a lot of time at the National going through bargain boxes. I am fond of this find from one:

I have found

it is a good way to get rid of dead inventory or things you do not want from collections you buy. I have many times over the years covered costs from the dollar boxes and a few times at fValley forge
actually made some nice profits from dollar boxes or tables.

Rookiwmonster -
I was half joking because I only do shows once in a while. Occasionally I do the show in Bordentown at the Ramada on Route 206 and once in a while the old Willow Grove show in the Valley Forge Casino. I will be trying to do more shows in the future.

Nothing pre-war yet, but probably my best $1 box pick-up was a 1993 Finest Eckersley Refractor.

I also seem to end up with a stack of really nice 1970s mixed sports dollar cards at every National. As far as I'm concerned a 40 year old card of a HOFer that I don't have and that grades an 8 or better is a great deal.

I'm not really a card guy but love a deal, the hunt, finding something new for my Jays collection and after scouring a fe dollar boxes at the last National on Sunday, I came up with a few autographed cards of Jays stars from my youth ('70's and '80's) and current team. I only wish I poked around a few more tables.

I love the idea of dollar box diving at the nathional . I go to local shows and the biggest would be the east coast national. When I go to the east coast nathional I usually get sucked in to the big stuff . I did go at the end of one ,I got 1950 bowman Hank Thompson 2 bucks ,Two 1972 Kellogg's cards and maybe a buck each !maybe not my best pick up .........1986 psa 9 Barry bonds 3 bucks for that one lol .

But I do sometimes look at the pile of cards and say I'm not paying that much for these cards . I do a final look through the pile and take out what I can live without . 50 dollars id rather have something more significant.

I'm 1 (big) card shy of completing my 59F Ted Williams set, and a good portion of my cards were $1 or $2 purchases.

I wish I had the patience to go through those boxes.
