Old SGC Fees
I know SGC's fees just went up - can someone give me the old tiers?
Thanks |
I just saw that too. Wondering why. I'm pretty sure for a regular pre-war card they were $7 a card which made them a great alternative to PSA.
Now they're the same as PSA. The only good thing now is you don't have to have a stupid membership. |
I just sent a submission in this week and I contacted SGC before sending as they are accepting submissions under old tier with postmarks before March 1,2016
I know that I could still find the old tiers on Monday of this week (although I had to dig). It appears that they are not available this morning. I sent under 5 day (Grand Slam) at $25 per card (Old Tier). That price jumps to $35 per card as of March 1. So looks like around a 14-15 percent increase? Hope that they are not shooting themselves in foot with this type of increase. |

For about the 100 billionth time, you don't have to have a membership to submit to PSA. They changed that policy years ago. |

SGC Fees
I think this might be what you are looking for:

I still have copies of the old SGC forms if someone wants to see them.

Thanks everyone, I have a sub going tomorrow and would obviously prefer the old prices to the new ones!
|
And, unless they've changed their grading standards too, you can still sub a card that measures 95-5 and get a straight grade with no "Q." :D

It should be noted that prices didn't go up for every dollar value because they also changed the category limits. For example, a card valued between $1,000 - $2,000 used to be $40 under Next Day. Now, a card in that same range is a $35 Grand Slam, a slower service but cheaper.
I do realize that cards in the $500 to $1000 range went up with the new cats, as well as all of the other changes, I just wanted to point out that things aren't more expensive across the board even if the average price went up. |
Historically it seems, many times, SGC has mirrored PSA bumps in pricing.
|
BTW, SGC has a $5 bulk special this month (50 card minimum, $100 max declared value, standard size cards only, no tall boy or higher). I have never seen a special this low for SGC for prewar cards since I've started tracking this in 2010.

$7
Their $7 March special is a heck of a deal. 30 day turn around time. No minimum amount of cards to submit.
|
All 3 march specials are great deals, actually.
