June 27, 1949 a scheduled off day for Jackie Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers, and also the World Champion Cleveland Indians, but the opposite league rivals met for a charity game at Ebbets Field in front of 31,546 fans.

That night saw a great collection of former negro league players, Robinson, Roy Campanella, Larry Doby, Minnie Minoso, and the great Satchel Paige.

The game also featured other baseball greats like Gil Hodges, Duke Snider, and Pee Wee Reese, along with Indian stars Al Rosen and Lou Boudreau.

Paige would allow 1 run and stuck out 3 in 5 innings as the starter for the Indians. Perhaps the only time the legendary Paige pitched at Ebbets Field???

It was agreed before the game that it would not go past 10:45 pm as the Indians had to catch a train back home for a series starting the next day with Detroit, but luckily the Dodgers scored 1 run in the bottom of the 9th to end the game with a 4-3 victory, avoiding a tie game.

Presented here is a game used baseball from that game, a good chance this ball was tossed by Satchel Paige and hit and touched by some baseball greats!

One of the PMs sent was from a board member letting me know he has pics of this game from 49, one is up right now on eBay. He kept the other because it has Jackie, Paige, and Doby.
