SGC Relocating to South Florida
Just received an email from SGC stating that they are beginning a relocation to Boca Raton next week.
|
interesting....perhaps boca will be the home of 55 and up communities as well as card grader services....
boca del vista phase 3 is probably where they are moving |
Isn't that area where Dave now lives?

I heard it's pretty tough to get in. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/C6jrwzYGUoA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Rat mouth Mike lives down there. He'll be pleased.
OK, relocating, as in moving the entire operation? Not a second operation, right? |
I guess they saw Hurricane Sandy and said "Boy, that was great! How can we get some more of that?"
Does anyone know why they are moving? The taxes might be better but I would think that their insurance premiums are going to go way up, not to mention I would think that they are going to have a major headache not only protecting submissions when a hurricane is approaching but dealing with calls and emails from worried clients who have submissions sitting at SGC. |
Smart move by Dave. He can now entomb the residents as well as the cards.

Can't wait for the SGC / Soaking threads during hurricane season.

I guess SGC will start showing up at the south florida card shows which is nice..\

I love this! All I have done is laugh at most of the comments everyone has posted.
If SGC does relocate to Del Boca Vista, I wonder if they will close early in order to make the early bird special? |

Yes it makes sense if the owner lives there
BUT, this will make traveling to almost any decent show much more expensive. Out of New Jersey you could drive to the major megalopolis shows and take reasonably easy flights from either Newark or Philly (if you wanted to save money) to just about anywhere in the country Boca Raton does not strike me as quite the same easy way to get to all the locations and certainly gives PSA an "home field" edge in the NY area as they have an office there. Good for Dave, but probably not a great corporate move Rich |

Their sister companies are in Florida; NGC Coin grading and CGC Comics grading are both in Sarasota, so it makes sense in that aspect for SGC to also be in Florida.

Yeah, it's on their website now.
But no further information. I wish I would have known. My sub got there Thursday. I would have held off until the dust settles. |
I'll be living in Boca within a month.
Perhaps I can get a job grading and f@ck all your submissions ;) |

two things struck me as interesting
1) This posted on a Friday Night. Interesting because if you want the least attention, that is when to do something 2) Dr. Beckett sold Beckett when he was 55 years old. Rich |
So the company is moving, so are all the personnel moving along with the company? Are the graders moving to Florida?

This move really sucks! I was going to start driving an hour to do in person drop offs and pick ups. I hate using the postal service.................

I am in a condo complex, but love it here. Yeah we do have a lot of Venezuelans here!!! LOL Would be very happy with SGC in Boca as I may ultimately have a lot to grade and am leary of sending so much thru mails, ups, etc. |
Just came across this update on my SGC forum boards

That CDN submission center was right in my home city. I inquired a while ago about dropping cards off there directly but was informed I'd have to mail them there instead. I was disappointed to find this out but I can understand the person/owner (it was a house) wanting to maintain his privacy and not have to deal with people dropping by randomly at all hours. I still haven't submitted any cards yet however, and I am still undecided, if I do, to either go with SGC or PSA or maybe even Beckett? Not looking for another debate as I have read enough to draw my own conclusions at this point, but I do like the professionalism on how the letter was written above. |
