Newcomer from NC
Greetings all,
I'm brand new to card collecting/selling etc. I primarily rummage through goodwills, thrift stores etc for items that can turn a profit, primarily for a little supplemental on the side. I knew I've always wanted to get into cards (of any type really). I began my journey yesterday in western NC and found some 1950s boxing cards. They are not graded and I'd love opinions and thoughts on quality, value, etc. Also are they worth getting graded? Any and all information is welcome as I dive into the wonderful world of cards Cards I purchased: 1951 Topps Ringside Max Baer http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...ps15xpn21z.jpg 1956 Topps Adventure Max Baer http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...psiy4r2sks.jpg 1956 Topps Adventure Gene Tunney http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...pskfpboijb.jpg 1956 Topps Adventure Post War Battlers (Sugar Ray vs. Olson) http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...psbl7ikz5g.jpg All in pretty good shape by my accounts but again I am no expert. Welcome to the forum. Nice cards. Is your sole focus on boxing? We have quite a few guys that collect both boxing and baseball.

No focus as of yet, any cards are good for me. Very new at this.
Just hoping to gain some insight into this hobby! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Tapatalk |
Collectors of boxing have a very unique following, the first card is from one of the most popular sets “1951 Topps Ringside” this set has all the great boxers of the 1950s and many from before. The other three cards are from the 1956 Topps Adventure Set and are really easy to find, but the boxers are the most popular from that set. Really not worth grading, unless you got a ‘5” on the Max Baer – 5s and higher can be difficult for these cards due to the tabs

Thanks Jimmy, I've been debating the Baer.
