Posting here before sending for consignment. Selling to fund another purchase. Always open to offers, or possibly a trade for a card of equal value.

what cards are you looking for to obtain with the funds or to get with equal value..you seem to already have the cards that people try to trade for so not sure what you are looking for now..

A 52 Topps Mays, green cobb, a cj cobb or jackson, goudey ruth or gehrig, a high grade mantle card, etc. Would be open to others or a cash/trade deal.

Forgot to add 54 Aaron, 63 Rose, 68 Ryan PSA 8, 1990 Frank Thomas NNOF, 1986 Fleer Jordan PSA 9 or BGS 9.5.

The card I'm looking to obtain is up for auction so I'd prefer not to out it at this point, but anyone who's in the market for one would have seen it.

funny but usually people with that list of cards are also looking for a 1955 clemente psa 7...haha..

there is a cj cobb at auction now and a few ruths including a rookie which was not on your list... (im a consignor on many of the cards you are looking for so please bid away when the time arrives)

I don't think you can out auctions when you are talking cards more than $5000.....I mean saying theres a 1952 Topps Mantle at some place etc..the people that bid on those things all check the same places....the people that don't chase those down and save their time they just buy them from people that won them at auction..its not like 'outing' the card will make that guy bid...

..

I have a centered 55 clemente psa 4 that I really like, that's enough for now. There are actually a couple of cards I'm considering, including the Ruth rookie you mentioned, or a Ruth ball, but I'm sure you're right that none will fly under the radar.

ah I got you...I do come across 1952 Mays from time to time...I probably sold 5 of them psa 5 or better in 2015..will give you first dibs if I get another..also had two centered psa 4 green cobbs..

Yea I'm sure everyone who passed on your Cobbs is kicking themselves now, myself included.

Has the card sold or is it consigned?

pokerplyr80 02-06-2016 09:44 AM

I have not sold or consigned this card yet. However, with the record breaking sale of the last PSA 8 I'm waiting to see what the market says about the value of 7s.

list it for auction no reserve and you will find out.....each card is different and centering can be a 10-40% difference in price,. a card that sells for 9000 for example the consignor probably still netting less than your asking price....always got to factor in that buyer premium....i doubt theres a 30% increase in market in net to seller but you can always wait....

Yes, pretty crazy to see a PSA 8 currently on eBay for $38,300 with 2 days to go. If these are investors driving the prices up, isn't the whole point to buy low? :)

There is a big difference between PSA 7s and 8s for 1955 Topps.....its almost like PSA 6s versus PSA 7s in 1952s or PSA 9s versus PSA 8s in 1974 topps.....a key grade difference..but for the waterside properties there is still value for both..but that key grade still is an issue for the value multipliers..

pokerplyr80 02-06-2016 05:42 PM

I'm aware of the difference but just decided to hold the card for now. I didn't realize this post would get bumped, so I responded and removed the asking price.

It seemed when 8s were going for 25-30k 7s were going for 5-6k. If 8s are now in the 50-60k range, I'm going to wait and see if 7s hit 10-12k. They may or may not, but it's a chance I'm going to take, at least for now.
