E91A Christy Mathewson

Anyone have one of these? Ran across one two years ago and picked it up for a little over $125. I just sent it in with 5 other cards to be graded. First time getting something graded in a few years when i had my Lajoie turkey red done. Excited to know it will finally have a grade and better protection. Might grade around a 2 or 3 I think. Will post pictures when I get it back in 2 weeks

Good luck with the grading!! However, as a Mathewson collector, this is my least favorite card and least favorite set. To each his own though. Congrats and again, good luck

Really? I think it's kind of interesting looking. Not saying it's my favorite though

E91 Matty

Although not anyone's favorite set, I argue that the E91A (and some of the E91B set) depict the facial likeness of the player listed, as does the Matty card as shown with a M116 Sporting life below that I believe the artists from both sets used the same photo to create their rendering of Christy. The artist for the E91 set made everyone with the same chubby faced, kewpie doll look, but I think you can easily see the likeness, unlike the much more generic looking T201 of Mathewson. Enjoy your card, and know that it is not a generic image, as it is mistakenly believed to be by many collectors.

Brett, if you are ever looking to part with it, I can use that one.
