I found The Group that Chris posted and this Tannehill Isn't on it.
Is this a new one? (not my card)

Sean 12-24-2015 08:40 PM

Wow, that's a great one Patrick. I've never seen it before.

Danny Smith 12-24-2015 09:09 PM

Amazing

Jantz 12-24-2015 09:20 PM

Nice Pat!

I'm not sure if its a new one, but I'm not surprised to see the Tannehill.

Now after seeing it, we only need three more pieces and the puzzle will be complete. ;)

We are still missing:

Duffy
Geyer
Sheckard (glove showing)

Looks like Tannehill matches up with McGraw.

Leon 12-25-2015 06:24 AM

As an oddity and error collector that is a great find!! Congrats.

Pat R 12-25-2015 06:54 AM

Thanks Leon, I think these cards are really cool but unfortunately it's
not mine.

I'm not sure if all the back ghosts and/or partial ghosts have been listed yet
but they are......

Pfeffer [1] - Conroy (bat) (not 100% sure about this one),McQuillan (bat)
Hummel - McQuillan (bat),Marquard (pitching)
Wheat - Pelty (vertical),Burch (fielding)
Crandall (with cap) - Burch (fielding),Crawford (bat)
Pfeffer [2] - Mullin (bat),Lake (no ball)
Devore - Willets, Jordan (bat)
Gandil - Wagner (bat on right),Willis (bat)
McGraw (glove on hip) - Bradley (with bat),Manning (pitching)
Tannehill - Manning (pitching),Steinfeldt (bat)
Ford - Schaefer (Washington),Seymour (port)

I couldn't come up with who's on the left of Ford so if anyone knows maybe they can post it here.

Jantz 12-25-2015 09:21 AM

Nice job Pat & thank you for post up the grouping.

Just a few minor adjustments to what you have posted.

I agree with you on the Conroy (with bat), but I'm not 100% sure as well.

The two players on the back of the McGraw card are Bradley (with bat) & Manning (pitching).

The unknown player on the back of the Ford is Schaefer (Washington). Notice the big "W" on the left side of the card.

This strip is interesting in the fact that these players are from two different print groups.

Marquard (pitching), Schaefer (Washington) & Seymour (portrait) are from Print Group 4.

Thank you for your help Jantz, I made the corrections.

I was underbidder on three or 4 of these about 10 years ago on ebay....I have been kicking myself in the ass ever since for not getting one~!

beautiful work Pat! :D.....I saw the card and have been drooling ever since....wish I could swing it right now:o;)

Great detective work.

Interesting that all three of the 460-only guys (Marquard, Schaefer, Seymour) are among the handful of 460-only guys confirmed with Piedmont 460/42.

atx840 12-25-2015 02:51 PM

There is a second - Gandil - Wagner (bat on right),Willis (bat)

Unfortunately no pic of the front.

Johnny, I was an underbidder as well on a couple of these in 2005. The winner used the ebay name "installall" I believe. Back then ebay allowed us to know whom we were bidding against. I never did find out who it was that bought them.

Tom, I'm not sure, but I think that the two I bid on went over $1,000. That was around 2005.

I'm not sure what Jaime paid for his a couple years ago, but it must have been quite a bit more.

A couple of interesting things about the sheet(s) that were printed on the back
of these...... If there was only one sheet of these that escaped the trash bin
It's surprising that the two Pfeffer's have two different subjects on each of them and
based on the known subjects so far if it's one sheet it's already 17 wide
without all the pieces to complete it yet.

Sean 12-26-2015 09:58 AM

I don't think that all these subjects were printed in a single row. I'm guessing that these cards were on different rows on the same sheet.

mrvster 12-26-2015 01:45 PM

Jimmy!........

THAT'S IT!

great to see you post my friend.....been trying to reach you......call me if you get a chance:)
