1904 Boston Americans - Blue Label Cigar Pin set of 16

Looking for an estimated price for a complete set of 16 pins, very rare to find a set.

esd10 12-24-2015 03:02 PM

About a $1000 for common players and the auction price for jimmy Collins was $1880. I would take a guess around 15-20k+

Ribbens 12-24-2015 06:34 PM

Any Cy Young sales anyone aware of ?

Do you have any of these pins or the set? Any to show?

Well since this thread was/is going nowhere thought I would show mine
Also there was a Jimmy Collins auctioned off in the past 12-18 months

Wow. Beautiful Cy Young.....I had a common that I got $1000idh for. I would assume a Young would bring $5-$8K or more if the right bidders get into the fray.....

Thanks, Tom
I like the Horner portrait of Young on the pin.
i was hoping others would post pics of more.
Maybe posted on the wrong side?

That Young is amazing!

Hopefully some others can share some pictures too.

Anyone have a checklist?

Here's my only one -- Gibson. Sorry it's not a closeup photo.

There is a guy I know that has the complete set.

ezez420 01-07-2016 08:03 PM

I think he was selling for $15000

Ribbens 01-07-2016 08:07 PM

I was just informed that the set of 16 Blue Label pins ( in the Boston area) sold for $22,000 in a private transaction.

You sure this sold for that much? Seems a little high.

Vintagecatcher 01-08-2016 12:32 AM

Hmmm

Was it sold for $2200 or 22000?

Patrick

That was an old price. Ribbens may be confused trying to inflate price.

My guess was 15k-20k privately with the OP. If anyone wants to sell me as many sets as they have for 5k a set I will take all you have......

Ribbens 01-08-2016 07:00 PM

I was told this sale price of $22,000.00, no way for me to verify that price just passing along what I was told. I have no skin in this game so why would I inflate the price?. Just sharing information. IF I can verify this price I will pass this along for all our benefit. That price of 22,000.00 was on the high end of some estimates made on this thread, on the set's value.
