Saw this and was like "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........." and couldn't find any history of Christie's selling one.

Was there an illustration in the original ad?
There is nothing to illustrate this now.

Signature seems a bit light. As does the photograph.

The 1996 Christie's auction of the Baseball Magazine Archives was just photographs. Never heard of an autographed photo being a part of it, much less a Mathewson signed one.
