T206 Jack Chesbro Printer Scrap Reverse Color Error

Hello - I am new to the board. This card was purchased by me from Pete Gustafson (he can verify) last October. Believe Pete is a member here. I just reached out to him a few days ago to see if he knew of anyone interested since this was a unique item. Unfortunately due to a death in the family I am trying to unload a few items to help my mother in law which is the only reason I am selling. Asking $1500 but will consider all offers. Also have this listed on ebay and have great feedback on there if you prefer the safety of the bay. Thanks for looking.

Nice card and 100% printers scrap. There were several found in one large collection, with one other having the yellow ink on the revers.

Good luck with the sale

This was copied from the BST so a few more folks would see the neat T206 scraps posted. Always a crowd favorite. Good luck with the sale.

Does anyone know who that ghost is on Oakes? It looks similar to the ghost on the Wiltse card that Scott F used to own.

I think it was figured out to be Hoblitzell

Since we're talking about scraps: Does anyone know a general value for a card like Carrigan or Willis, where the colors look normal, but it is handcut? I have one similar and wonder what the value might be.

Oakes

It is a Hoblitzell on the oakes. Looking for the Hoblitzell blank back. It would be a cool combo to own.

Ok, here it is. Colors look pretty normal to me, aside from the staining/toning which is fairly even across the card.

It's scrap, not worth anything. I will be kind and offer $10.

As an aside, what kind of indicators are out there to help determine a true scrap from someone who just decided to take a pair of scissors to a card? Outside of common ink issues like the one on the Chesbro or oddcuts with the printer marks, I mean?

I am with you. I see nothing here that makes me think that this card is scrap.

Size matters. If the printing process is complete front and back the way to determine the card is a scrap is that its borders are larger than a normal card and hand cut.

There can also be other indicators :) :

Great card, Adam - and thanks for that note on the size.

I too agree...looks like a miscut/trimmed t206 with a wet sheet transfer to me.
