E220 and W572 connection
1 Attachment(s)
This has probably been discussed before (maybe recently) but I just added this E220 Wheat to my new collection and noticed the W572 of Wheat in the ongoing LOTG auction. Have we discussed this before? And regardless of that I think similar photos for different cards is cool.

That seems to have been a popular shot of Mr. Wheat during that time:

Wheat wire and Neilsons.

Leon, I did some research on this years ago - and I can dig it out if folks are interested - but the e220 is not the set with the closest ties to the W572s. With very minimal effort you can see there is a different Ruth, Marranville, Hooper, Heilmann, etc. between these two sets.
There was one set where almost every single card had the same picture (I couldn't match them 100% because I still am missing 4 pictures from the W572 - Rapp, Barbare, Duncan and Wambsganns - but there was a remarkable tie for everything else I could find). I forget which set it was off the top of my head (E120?). Cheers, Patrick |

W572 images
Patrick is correct, the W572 set shares the same images with the E120 American Caramel set, with the exception (if I remember correctly, not being around the reference material) being the Cobb card. I believe this connection is outlined in Lipset's Encylopedia of Baseball Cards, under the caramel grouping.

Almost a half dozen cards including the wire photo and all with a different crop-nice!
