Help Mel Ott auto
2 Attachment(s)
This came from a Huggins & Scott recent auction. The Mel Ott is not the greatest auto, but it is (or is it?) a Mel Ott. I wish I could separate the photos, and will try in on Photoshop, but in the meantime, would like opinions on the Ott. It was pre-cert by JSA, so it gets a discount on the cert, and if I ever want to sell it, as painful as it sounds, it needs a TPA cert letter
The question is: Whether or not JSA gives a TPA, is this a legitimate Ott? I realize the last letters are faint, and he did not cross the t horizontally. but then again, a forger would not have erred in that aspect if he/she took the time to learn he "basic Ott"..... If desired thoughts on the JDM (or the weak Musial) are welcome, the main one has a Spence LoA and I am comfortable with it. The A/P appears reasonable, circa 1950s |
Well, I received the package (scanner not working right, need to set up new drivers and will post) and I am pleasantly surprised. The signature is not rushed, it is all there, but the writing instrument had some issues. Fortunately the paper is very good quality and you can see the pen tip marks (scribe on the paper) even when the pen did not flow ink.
The "Ott" shows clearly the 3 wave loop, and the horizontal on the "t s" shows on the paper as a loop-straight dash across the t s. Will post a better resolution scan sometime in the next day for completeness |
