Bill

I have nothing to contribute since I know nothing about these types of cards, but wanted to thank you for the informative thread.

I've also noticed that on the 1 line versions, some have a wider space in between the photo and the line of text. I refer to them as "wide line" versions. I believe all these 1 liners to be Fleischmanns as well since they were all from my family's original NY collection... (other 1 lines I have that I believe to be Fleischmanns include, besides the 3 bellow: Mike Mowrey, Stengle)

Note the 1 line Egan that Bill posted has a narrower space between the text and photo, where mine bellow has more space. I put mine next to the Johnston to show the spacing difference. Oddly I think I originally had maybe 4 Red Smiths from my original collection and all had one line of text with one having the "wide line" or "wide space"... I added a 2 line version from Bill a couple years ago...

Another printing oddity on the Ray Fisher...

If you notice in the lowest line of text, the Bradford & Co. had some minor printing errors with the first few letters in Bradford. One here is correct with no issues, the other has the "BRA" misaligned, and the last has a vertical face down R and then ADFORD after...

I've noticed more sublte errors like a letter or two misaligned with some other players but nothing like the differences on the Ray Fisher.

Great post Bill and others. Certainly one of the highlights from Collection 1 is shown here. I think the Ferguson/Fleischmann assoctiation is fascinating. The backstory on this Wagner is that David Bry,an had it on ebay around 10-12 yrs ago (I guess). I saw it go up almost immediately. I emailed him to see if he would do a Buy It Now for a certain price, I offered 3500 for it. He said he couldn't do it as it was an auction and I respected that.
I ended up winning it for 3550. It was one of my favorite cards in the collection just sold . . And this type 1 photo went to a good hobby friend so that was good too. Thanks again for sharing, Bill. They are superb portraits (can't remember if there are full poses or not) on super rare cards. I wouldn't doubt if one lands back in my collection, tab only please. :)
