Time Capsule Thread- To be opened in 10 Years
I had fun looking at old posts from 10 years ago..and thought I should start a thread now about our predictions in 10 years. And 10 years from now maybe someone will view this thread and repost it to see how close we were.
10 years from now....11/3/2025 some things to predict Price of the 1952 Topps Mantle PSA 8? What will the POP be of that card? Highest Price of a T206 Wagner? 1951 Bowman Mays and Mantle PSA 8 predictions? Will there be a SGC? PSA holders will have any new things done to them to make them more safe or expensive etc? How much will A-Rod charge for an autograph Will Pete Rose be in the Hall of Fame.. Price of a 1983 Topps PSA 10 Gwynn and Boggs? How many 1952 Grey Back Pete Riesers will be discovered Things like that to get you started......maybe no one will reply on this thread..but if someone does eventually it will be gone....until it is resurrected it in 11/3/2025.... |

Price of the 1952 Topps Mantle PSA 8? $450,000
What will the POP be of that card? 55 Highest Price of a T206 Wagner? $5.5million 1951 Bowman Mays and Mantle PSA 8 predictions? Mantle: $300k, Mays $250k Will there be a SGC? Why wouldn't there be? They are still the premier grader for PreWar. Some cards haven't been graded by PSA yet, but have multiples in the SGC POP. This is what I have regarding his cards that contain the e90-1 image. E92 Croft Cocoa - 5 SGC, 0 PSA E92 Croft Candy - 3 SGC, 0 PSA E92 Dockman - 22 SGC, 25 PSA e106 - 10 SGC, 6 PSA T216 - 8 SGC, 3 PSA E90-1 - 22 SGC, 16 PSA E102 - 29 SGC, 16 PSA E101 - 9 SGC, 8 PSA D303 Gen Baking - 3 SGC, 0 PSA So in this small sampling it shows a trend that SGC is the dominant grader for PreWar at 111 to 75. PSA holders will have any new things done to them to make them more safe or expensive etc? PSA Holders won't open as easily and they will finally be giving other sets more attention so they can attempt to win market share from SGC. They will also introduce a new Pristine Grade, so people will be resubmitting their 10s in hopes of getting the PSA pristine. How much will A-Rod charge for an autograph? $200 Photo, $325 Ball, $600 Premium Will Pete Rose be in the Hall of Fame.. NO Price of a 1983 Topps PSA 10 Gwynn and Boggs? $200 each as people will now want the PRISTINES that are bringing $4k. How many 1952 Grey Back Pete Riesers will be discovered - 1 |

Price of the 1952 Topps Mantle PSA 8? What will the POP be of that card? $750k. Pop will be about 40
Highest Price of a T206 Wagner? 5 mil. Assuming the 8 changes hands between now and then. Otherwise the current highest sale will stand. 1951 Bowman Mays and Mantle PSA 8 predictions? 200k and 350k Will there be a SGC? Yes PSA holders will have any new things done to them to make them more safe or expensive etc? Not much. I would love to see them add a photo database for high end cards but doubt it will happen. How much will A-Rod charge for an autograph $100-200 Will Pete Rose be in the Hall of Fame.. No Price of a 1983 Topps PSA 10 Gwynn and Boggs? $1200 and $900. I'm not sure about the PSA (11?) Pristine grade. It's too late in my opinion to add it. I know nothing about grey back Reisers, other than the obvious that they're rare. Perhaps a few will turn up at once when someone cleans out an attic. |
PSA will be fighting court battles and the stock will have plummeted. In 20 years they won't exist.
Technology will be on the cusp to where a card can be forensically evaluated rather than by some college kid's best guess. But it will be pricey at first and only the most valuable cards will be submitted. Maybe that company will be the new SGC, but I doubt it, and they'll be on their way out as well. As this new technology sweeps the hobby, prices for absolutely top-rated cards will soar to stratospheric levels so that a genuine psa 10 equivalently rated card of Boggs and Gwynn will easily surpass $10k 52 Mantle of genuine mint quality: easily over a million bucks Pete Rose: no (but there will be another big push after he passes away) A-Rod (if he's still got his health): $1000 T206 Wagner: 1 new one discovered and top price of 5 million |
1952 mantle PSA 8 will go down in price
1951 bowman mays and Mantle will get way closer in price . Mays 250 mantle 300 SGC PSA merge to take over the world ( of card grading) have Uncrackable holders that if you want to resubmit you must send it in . A roid will have a sex change but still be on the Yankees Pete rose and some PED players will make the hall but will some type of * or stipulation . Gwynn / Boggs rookie PSA 10 tony 125 wade 90 T206 Wagner a collection of 4 will be found and one random one one of these will be the highest graded example and it will sell for 10 million dollar but due to a global melt down it will only be like 30 dollar of today's money . |
PSA will have added .25 to the grading scale.
|
[A roid will have a sex change but still be on the Yankees
A-Rod will change back and marry 'Katlin' Jenner . . |

Price of a 1983 Topps PSA 10 Gwynn and Boggs?
Worthless except for one week a year: In the future, 1983 Topps PSA 10 Gwynns, Boggs', and Sandbergs will be used as currency at the National. |
I predict the end of correct punctuation and grammar usage. Might as well include correct spelling.

89 Donruss will become the new 52 Topps after millions of former collectors realize that they are/were considered junk wax and throw them in the trash or burn them, thereby reducing the set's availability and increasing scarcity. Hope is a method.
Game-used cards of umpires will be a hot commodity - pieces of chest protector, masks, brush, ball bag, etc. Major money for HOF umpires. |
slightly shy of 10 years, but...
It has been only a month, but a new prediction that I had and didn't want to post prior the RMY premier auction...
I think Rookie vintage images will be going up in prices. Especially HOF and Negro League stars that didn't have cards made until a few years after their rookie seasons. This is the only way to get rookie items for most pre war players. Add on top of it that when a player is a rookie photographers weren't going to spend a lot of their time shooting first year players so there aren't typically a lot of options (unless they were stars in other leagues prior to coming to the majors). |
its only been 4 years. but i wanted to post this so will be easier to find 6 years from now...
|
cant believe its already been 6 years
|
Right now I’ll take all the psa 10 Gwynn and Boggs rookies ya got for 200.
