Hal pee wee reese game used M117
6 Attachment(s)
My new Hal Reese pickup from an antique dealer with this DiMaggio model . Asked for measurements last night and he said it was 34 inches which I thought would have been an index bat. When I got it and bought them from him I found it was 34 1/2" which is what Pee Wee Reese ordered from 1949 thru 51. Rare Hal Reese model instead of Pee Wee. Not cracked. Great game use markings and remnants of green bat rack marks. Purchased the bats for a song couldn't be happier

Very cool. I don't know anything about bats - how do you know it is game used?
I am glad you got a good deal on these, maybe you can take your extra $$ and buy some new socks. :D |
HAHAHA. Weird, I was thinking same exact thing.....
|
Trust me he ordered 34 and a half and 35 from 49 to 51. Shorter models would have been considered an index bat. Considering Mears chomping at the bit to get it for consignment. By the way can't afford new socks I'm buying too much memorabilia.

I didn't mean to sound like I was doubting you, I just really have no clue what goes into determining whether a bat was game used or not.

Reese bat
Any help would be much appreciated. Thx

nice bat

Cool bat. As a non-bat-collector I find it perplexing how we can know a bat is actually game used shy of a photo match or other direct provenance. I am not doubting anything at all, I just don't know much about the subject. :) I always get excited for other collectors when they get neat stuff. Congrats!!

Maybe some of you very experienced bat guys can chime in

Based on what you can see in the photos, you are correct. It's 1949 bat .. can't comment on use, but if you say it has great use, I believe you. Its a very nice bat and worth good money.
The one with Rizzuto provenance sold for 3k a few years back and was dated to 49 as well. Matt |
