1956 topps Football
Me and Zack are about half way down.
If anybody has a bunch of extras, let us know what you have and what you need. Raw only. No pin holes, paper loss, writing, trimming, rips. Soft corners and light creasing is fine. As far as the famous centering problems, we are not too sensitive to them. 80-20 is fine. But would like to stay away from roller marks. Thanks guys!! |
Good luck with your set, Wes! I'll see if I have any doubles for you. Can you send me a list?

My friend put a decent set in the next Huggins and Scott auction. What's nice is he has the wrappers. Checklist, and the elusive contest cards.

This set is kind of historically significant..... 56 was the year Topps took over from Bowman. Topps had done 55 AA, but I'm guessing that was their way to produce a set without having a license to portray current players. Anyone have any more details?

My friend consigned a nice 56 Topps set with the contest cards to Huggins and Scott, but the real sleeper is that darn 1955 All American wrapper took me a while to get that one. Thought you guys may have an interest

Topps bought Bowman and that's why they disappeared.

The Topps cards in 1948 were part of the multi-card set they produced that came as small undeveloped photos with images that would appear when exposed to light. Because this was an inexact science, the images are often not very good.
Here is one of Bednarik. Topps spelled his name wrong. http://photos.imageevent.com/ltsgall...50711_0003.jpg jeff |
Wow! Thanks Jeff. Those Topps 48s must be small - that looks like a coin holder.
