Rotograph orignal circa 1904-1911 cast iron/metal 48 postcard revolving store display

What is rarer than a Rotograph baseball postcard? Well, an original Rotograph cast iron and metal 48 postcard revolving store display piece of course!
I recently added this to my collection and look forward to displaying my raw postcards in it. It is somewhat akin to finding a unicorn for a baseball postcard collector. The base is cast iron and the spinning 48 card display is made of a lighter metal to allow the display to spin. It accommodates up to 48 postcards for display which should nicely handle postcards in a sleeve but not slabbed. The Rotograph Company only existed between 1904 and 1911 and as many of you may know it is famous in our hobby for the exceedingly rare baseball real photo postcards. If any of you have a raw Rotograph baseball postcard for sale or trade send me a note as I would like to reunify it with the display. |
Jim what an awesome way to display your postcards
Where did you find it? |
That is fantastic!

Here is a photo from a better angle. The postcards fit precisely with just a little wiggle room, each tray could hold approximately ten cards with the ends projecting so they could easily be grasped by a prospective buyer. Just think of the possibility of a section of this filled with PC782s!
Jeff do you have a copy of your article on PC782s you authored for Old Cardboard a while back? If so please send me a copy, I think you have my email. Thanks, Jim |
Wow, that is fantastic! Speaking of rotograph postcards, are you aware of any baseball rotograph postcards currently for sale out there anywhere?

Probably the best option, I don't have a digital copy.
|
Thanks for checking Jeff, I'll order one off of Old Cardboard.

Here is a Rotograph team composite postcard repatriated to its natural habitat. I'll bet there hasn't been a similar confluence in over a century.

So cool! Congrats Jim!
