Is this a legit card?

As a Boggs collector since I began collecting near the beginning of his career I have seen most Boggs items. I have never seen or heard of this card before I seen this listing. Cards looks fake to me and the only info I could find on 81 Nabisco cards was a couple Don Mattingly cards and one seller said it was a fantasy card.

Anybody have any info on it? Thanks http://www.ebay.com/itm/1981-Nabisco...p2047675.l2557

EDIT: Sorry I somehow posted this in the wrong section. Leon or other mod please move if you think necessary.

Looks like there was one in a Sterling auction in 2014 in a lot that didn't even get a minimum $10 bid.

I'm going to say this is a fantasy card though. Why would a national company like Nabisco which is not located in Rhode Island issue cards of a minor league team?

Here's the only one on worthpoint. It sold for $150 in November of last year.

Never heard of it and don't really like the look of the card. My guess is not a legitimate issue.

So just doing some cursory google searches there was also a Don Mattingly produced by Nabisco in 1981, but I can't find any other 1981 Nabisco cards. Someone at Nabisco must have had a crystal ball. Boggs was already in his 6th minor league season, Mattingly was only in AA ball...both were good hitters, but neither were power hitters. Why would Nabisco make cards of Boggs and Mattingly, but no other players?

This site includes the Mattingly on its master checklist FWIW.

That site also lists a card they believe to be counterfeit so I wouldn't put too much stock into what they put on their list.

Will PSA, SGC or Beckett put it in a slab?

Looks like a non-period fantasy card. I vote fake.

The Mattingly is described by this eBay merchant as a counterfeit, albeit one that is "highly sought after." Of course it is. He's the one selling it.

Final sales price: $450

Both the Wade Boggs and this card (especially) look bogus. I would say the word "counterfeit" would be an accurate one.

Can something be a counterfeit if there was never an actual original?

Maybe "knockoff" would be a better word. The idea is that they are very similar to other, legitimate minor league cards from the same time period and use actual minor league pictures from the year in question.

Nabisco would have never issued something so cheap looking. At least the Ajax Dog Food cards had the audacity to look truly horrible.

It reminds me of that Mark McGwire Anchorage Pilots Card.

With so much obviously going against these cards as being a legit issue the question is why do they consistently bring so much money?

Same reason some reprints sell for big money. Sucker born every minute.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I thought it was fake but wanted to ask on that ever so slim chance it was real.
