I'll be back-

Going under the knife tomorrow - hip replacement - while I initially asked to have an elbow installed in its place since I've never had elbow trouble, I'll have to go with the standard alien devise so Big Brother can keep better tabs on me - I'll be stopped at all screening devises (and I don't even own a turbin) and will have to get special clearance to board airplanes, not to mention how difficult the cremation will eventually become.

Please keep me posted on how well the Braves do this postseason - I have heard that several of them have already bought their tickets.

This forum has really brightened my otherwise dull life and I am forever grateful to all those whom I now call friends.

Thanks - and talk to you soon,

Raymond Culpepper

Hey Raymond
Good luck with everything. Thanks for putting this in the correct (water cooler) section. I moved it to the front page so others can know. Hope to see you back soon!!

Good luck Raymond. I've had my right hip replaced twice now, once in 2009 and the second time in 2013. Let me know if you need any information.

My mom had a hip replacement in June. She was up and about pretty pain free by mid August. Hang in there.

mybuddyinc 09-09-2015 02:00 PM

Will do on Braves, I also hear Phillies tickets are selling quite vigorously ;)

One second hand word of advice. During rehab. if they say do 10 reps. of something do the 10 reps. Don't push it and try to be a He-man. When my mother had her hip done many years ago, she did "10." Her roommate thought more was better, and ended up screwing herself up to the point of a new surgery.

Good luck Raymond- A tennis friend of mine had one last October at age 71. Two weeks from the day of surgery we hit tennis balls for 30 minutes. One week later we hit for an hour and I limped off the court, he did not!

Good luck. My step-mother has had both hips done and was out of the hospital and walking in short order after both of them.

Post-op is THE WORST.

other than the braves ;)

Kenny Cole 09-09-2015 10:21 PM

Good luck. No hip surgeries here, but three shoulder surgeries. Stay strong. Do the rehab, follow the recommendations, and just get better.

the 'stache 09-09-2015 11:05 PM

Good luck with the surgery, Raymond.

Remember to leave the back of the gown untied if you have a pretty prep nurse. ;)

Good luck Raymond! Maybe they can put in some kind of Bionic Hip? Become a modern day Six Million Dollar Man!

Raymond,

Praying your recovery progresses smoothly, with no repercussions. My dear sister-in-law had excruciating pain prior to her double hip replacement, and surgery made a new woman out of her. It was all good, friend.

Take things one day at a time. Don't know what putting the brakes on to life does to you personally, but let it be a perfect time for contemplation, remembering, and thankfulness that this type of operation is so available. There was a day when....

The board will "carry on", but get back ASAP; we need you. ---Brian Powell

Raymond

Good luck on the surgery and I'm hoping for a speedy recovery! Brian makes some good suggestions, so I would consider those :) Take care my friend...

clydepepper 09-11-2015 05:57 PM

Thanks for all the well wishes - My surgery has been temporarily postponed due to a high white blood cell count (16.5) - we are still trying to track the cause...so, I'm back for at least a week anyway.

Best of luck when you do have the surgery, and hoping it makes life smoother once you're all done and recovered.
