I'm sorry to be so obvious, but have you talked with you attorney? If the attorney is one who poorly advised you, I would hope there is a plan in place that would allow you to retrieve the collection. I imagine the collection will be viewed as marital assets though, and have to be negotiated. I am not an attorney though, however there are many on the forum.

Just watched "War of the Roses" on cable today. Reminded me of my split. Luckily, my collection was off-site and the ex was clueless about it, but the advice my lawyer gave was to never move out of the residence first because it would be viewed as "abandonment" of the property.

no history or experience on this, but:

a. sorry to hear.
b. if and only if you can legally, go remove the gems quietly.
c. and leave the cases of 87 topps*

but make a fuss about getting that 87 topps case back! ;)
