T201 PSA to SGC Crossover Results

3 Attachment(s)
Hey All!

upgraded some T201's for my master set. My quest is almost complete!

I dropped off cards for grading at the National to PSA and SGC. Interestingly, PSA cards arrived last wednesday and the SGC cards arrived Friday, two days later! almost a tie.

My masters sets are SGC graded so I crossed over three cards from PSA to SGC. Thought I would share the results for what it is worth. Two grades went down and one went up, go figure....

Here are the results:

Wheat - PSA 5 EX crossed to an SGC 45 VG+ (PSA 3.5)

Attachment 202840

Doyle - PSA 5.5 EX+ crossed over to an SGC 50 VG/EX (PSA 4)

Attachment 202841

Huggins - PSA 2 G crossed over to an SGC 40 VG (PSA 3)

Attachment 202842

Enjoy!

lol...Now break them out of SGC, send them back to PSA and watch them all get 2's!!! Crossovers are a joke.

I'd agree it's a crapshoot. As long as you like them, I guess no hard done. But as others said, if you plan to sell at some point you just lost some money.

So Cliff, you broke these out before you sent them in...

And got these results. Did SGC know about the crossover? Did you send these in with a larger batch of ungraded cards? (I know the answer, just thought we would liven things up here as we are ending the dog days of August, the Pirates look good, Angels are gawdawful, Yankees are falling, Red Sox and Reds were never there and who cares about the Dodgers). Is this consistent with your other crossover attempts? Any thoughts on PSA vs SGC?

I know my results for crossover when submitting the card in the flip have been less than spectacular for tobacco cards. Learned my lesson here. Must admit these cards look sharper in the SGC flip. Sorry for the photo quality, scanner in the recycle dump...

Blind Crossovers

Hey Keith!

Nice cards!

I cracked these cards out of the PSA holders myself and submitted them to SGC "blind" so to speak, I told Earl that there were a few crossovers in the 35 or so cards I dropped off with him.

No issues with condition after crack-out, transport or handling during grading, cards and corners look as sharp as the day I cracked them out. Just pictures are just poor photo-shopping on my part (I apologize).

I have crossed over quite a few of the double folders from PSA to SGC, I seem to lose a notch or two on the grades every time. I knew this going-in and have accepted this as a curse for me liking the look of the SGC Holders sooo much better. Oh well...

Generally speaking, based upon my experience I would call the PSA T201 graders "more lenient" if that is the proper terminology??? And the SGC T201 graders tougher when it comes to grading the double folders.

What have I learned? I now tend to steer clear of ebay purchases of hi grade PSA double folders, I stick to buying raw and/or already graded SGC T201'z.

regardless, love this set and continue-on my Master Set quest!

TTYL!

T201's

Cliff,

Nice cards. How close are you to an all SGC Master set? And why SGC over PSA? Just curious.

Yeah, Cliff, looking forward to seeing your sets on the registry....and I wholeheartedly agree about grading differences between the two.. are you going to create a "freak set"? Would love to see your miscuts....and your research with Mike Wheat...
