1905 Trophy
 

This is for the trophy guys. Any info on this batting champion trophy from 1905? I can't make out what it says on the bottom. B.A.A is under batting champion. Any idea how much this is worth? Were these made a lot back then? I appreciate any info.

That's a very nice trophy Ron, but I don't see anything exceptional. Trophies like this are not common, but they do pop up fairly regularly. A key would be knowing what B.A.A is ( presumably something Athletic Association). If you could tie it to a know organized league or team there could be significantly more value. Without knowing more of BAA I would put a value of $100-150 if silver plated. Sterling will of course have much greater value.

Ron - Interestingly, Keith J sold a very similar, if not identical, style trophy from 1905. This one rowing content. Again, the value is in what interest there is in the content/engraving.

Thanks Joe! It was the first baseball trophy I have come across while picking. I'm thinking about picking it up if it's not already sold.

Before buying a generic trophy like this, school yourself in the differences between hand engraving and machine
