1952 Bowman wrong backs question
I generally don't collect things like these, but recently came across a group of a dozen 1952 Bowmans with the backs printed upside down and wrong player.
Several HOFers are involved. I've included a shot of one of them. It has Hank Bauer on the front, but on the back, printed upside down, is Roy Campanella. http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/z...psyuyjpifz.jpg http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/z...pskywytaxk.jpg Other stars include Robin Roberts (Gil McDougal back) Sal Maglie (Bob Feller back) I'm curious as the whether there is any value in these? Does anyone out there collect these (fairly) recent oddities? |
I collect wrong backs from any year or company. I personally love the error cards of any kind but there are very few of us. The HOFers and star players sell but usually for far less than a normal boring card.
If you are looking to sell finding player collectors are usually your best bet. I only know a couple guys that build wrong back sets or buy commons. |
I finished the 52 Bowman set about 6 months ago and casually look for wrong back or scrap cards just to add something fun to the set. If you ever are interested in moving any of these, even commons, let me know.

1941 Play Ball
The 1941 Play Ball set has quite a few "wrong back" cards also..........

That card looks like it was hand cut. They were probably all hand cut from a sheet that was rejected and discarded from the factory.
