First time in here.
This my first time in the forums, I was introduced to net54 at the Banquet during the nationals by a friend(chipperhank44) I went with. Was also able to meet Leon, very nice guy. I am not a big Baseball card collector since most of my collecting has been with vintage football. Now that I have shifted to combining two of my favorite hobby's World War I and II Aviation/Military History this opens up me getting involved in collecting Vintage Baseball. This looks like a great place to help with vintage baseball and some of the Wings cards I just started collecting.
Here is my collection so far(I have cards stacked inside cabinets of players from all sports that participated during WWII.) http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...s/image_10.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...ds/image_9.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...ds/image_8.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...ds/image_7.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o...ds/image_6.jpg |
Welcome aboard. My dad was in the Merchant Marines in WWII (he had polio as a boy and one leg was shorter than the other), but he dreamed of being in the air force. He absolutely loved vintage planes and we'd take him to Rhinebeck to the Aerodrome about once a year.
He passed at 86 years old back in 2012, but would have LOVED your collection! Best, Steve |
Welcome!
A fascinating collection that you have and are trying to obtain. Not sure if this would interest you (not mine but examples are readily available), as the craft pictured was used in his time of service in Korea as opposed to his time in WW2, but I have always loved this piece. http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...s3rdv0sdd.jpeg Tom C |

Welcome aboard K-Pop !
You have a great start on a fairly specific niche in the hobby. Very Cool. I do hope that you go after the 1959 Fleer Ted Williams cards as many of them feature his career as a fighter pilot. Also, while I am not a collector of football cards, if I was, I would collect the 1955 All-American set. It is a beautiful group of cards and includes a card that I think would fit your collection just perfectly: Niles Kinnick was the Heisman Trophy winner for Iowa in 1939 and lost his life on a military training flight over Venezuela in 1943 at the tender age of 24. The University of Iowa's stadium is named Kinnick Stadium in his honor. Best of luck with your pursuit, Raymond Culpepper Attachment 199363 |

Welcome! You will find this board an almost endless repository of knowledge!
May your collecting make for magical moments, Larry |
Awesome, stuff everyone! I will probably get a weekly or monthly thread for updates going somewhere. I do like how this opens up a reason for me to collect T206's. I have looked at the Ted Williams set and will start working on that and the Wings cards. Also I have been told the "Horrors' of War" set is one of the big sets to get and hard to find some of the cards.
