picked this up at the Nationals, it is dated 1889 and notice the ring bats and pillbox hat on the stem.
|
Bob!!! That is a killer trophy. We were admiring it at the National. Well done:D
|
Congratulations Bob!
An amazing trophy! The kind of thing I always fantasize about finding. |

Stopped at a large roadside sale over the weekend -- found this one gem, a Tito Francona gamer, in a wheelbarrow with several unmarked youth bats.

Not as old as some of the other items, but finally found this at a reasonable (?) price at the National. Very happy to bring Roberto Home

Seeing if anyone recognizes what card this is from :)
Btw I find it interesting that baseball reference lists Tim Jordan as left handed when it clearly shows him right handed in this Attachment 199497 Also got this duper awesome Rube Marquard photo from 09 Attachment 199498 |

Added this handsome (I like the colors) c. 1910 mug that fits well into my Cornell collection. Not especially valuable, but rare in that I have come across many mug/stein types over the years, but have never seen this early version before.

Thanks Graig, I'll get them scanned tonight and sent over to ya

Love those photos Sean!
I've always wanted Wille Mays pine tar, and finally picked up a can. The programs and 1929 WS photo with Al Simmons and Mickey Cochrane came from a local show. Greg |
Great, now I want some Willie Mays pine tar!

Just picked up this (not so remarkable photo) on eBay, showing a suspender-wearing man at Yankee Stadium in 1938. He's sitting in a free-standing Windsor chair, identical to the one I obtained last month from Lelands:
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...pscujsaigf.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...pszkixbkky.jpg But let's look more closely. Notice the twisted-wire added to the chair to tighten up the wooden pieces: http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...psujmhkvdx.jpg And here's the identical repair on my chair: http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...psopwg69vl.jpg Well, I thought it was interesting. |
That is interesting. Nice provenance for the chair....and I am pretty sure that is Joe Jackson in suspenders, unmistakeable ear.
|
Super-cool, David!
|
Nice... That photo is "gold". Might be worth as much as the Chair itself (given the unlikely photo-match!)
|
First ever chair photo-match!

Stub for Box with chair..from day Joe tied Willie Keeler's record 44 game Hitting streak. a Doubleheader vs The Red Sox
|
Jonathan, great ticket.
|
David - do you think that is the actual chair in the photo? If so, very cool. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but the chair to the left in the photo appears to have a similar wire repair.

I picked this right before the Nationals and it just came back from the framers. It is missing the easel on the back and someone poked a very small hole through the center. Other than that it is in very good condition

Love the ticket. Very cool! |
You're not alone, David, in thinking it's interesting. I love it when I can photo match something...in my case, usually a pennant or stadium souvenir.

Great LS sign Bob. Picked up this lemon peel ball. It's a little rough but I like it the way it looks and it's my first lemon peel!

Esate Sale pickup. This early very large Bucknell megaphone. Guessing 1940s. Supposedly the sellers grandfather went to Bucknell. Any Bison alum out there?

Picked up this 1905 Christy mug. This is my second of this mug, and love it, but I wouldn't have picked it up if not for the relative bargain I got it at. My first mug has an advertisement for a Chicago market on the reverse side, while this one has the Cornell crest on the reverse. (If I get another, I'll have to add this to the hoarding thread ;) ). The seller also had Harvard (baseball) and Yale (football) that went pretty cheap, but I didn't see those until after they sold.

Picked these up this weekend.

Donnie Baseball signed gamer circa 1986 (arguably his best year).

Nice bat. Looked like some great bat deals in that auction - I won the 2014 Cano. His weak season has driven prices down :)

I'm not so sure about his being a certain HOFer. If he stayed with the Yankees (bigger market/short porch in right field) his Bat prices would be at least 25% higher. Let's just hope the "weak season" is an anomaly!
|
There are plenty of his bats available but prices were fairly strong until his slow start this year. I 'needed' a Mariners bat and was looking specifically for an uncracked black barrel with the gold bat. Doubt I will get any more unless he changes teams again.
|
My batting cage bat was a store model Mattingly I bought in the late 80's. His and Bench's were my favorite styles.

Nice Cano bat Scott. How many do you have now? It’s been a while since I have added anything to my 1971 Bucs collection so I was pleased to pick these two items up. The first is a bullion and silk Championship patch given to the members of the team. These were sewn on the team issued travel blazers for the 1972 season. This one came in its original packaging. It is only the second such individual patch I have encountered. I don’t own the jacket it is only for pictured reference. The second item is an original Malcolm Emmons slide. The image was used for the October 10, 1970 issue of the Sporting News.
