First 21+ Issues of VCBC
2 Attachment(s)
For auction I have the first 21+ issues of Vintage and Classic Baseball Collector - "The Magazine For The Serious Collector of Baseball Items". I want to avoid dealing with shipping, so they will be available for pick-up at booth #258 at The National. Auction ends Monday July 27th at 9 PM Rosemont time.
VCBC was first issued in March 1995 with its feature article by Barry Sloate titled, Baseball's First Cards: Peck & Snyders. In issue #3, Barry wrote a piece on Baseball Books that has been my go to reference on books for the past 20 years. Additional authors in VCBC include Lew Lipset, Mark Macrae, Mark Rucker, Keith Olbermann, Frank Ceresi and many more of the leaders of our hobby. However, the real reason that you want to own these is to read editor, Dennis Purdy's bombastic writing - challenging hobby "experts", auction practices and grading card companies. These articles chronicle a period of change in our hobby including the sea-change for buying and selling - aka eBay. |

Any chance shipping could be an option for the unfortunates who won't be attending the national? :D
Perhaps, a flat rate box? |
Great magazine. I have a complete run but must
agree as most of the articles are first rate and I too refer to Barry's article on baseball books all the time even though it was written 20 years ago. Always enjoyed Dennis's editorials especially those lambasting self-proclaimed experts. |
I'll up the bidding to $2.

Please reconsider shipping?
Not able to attend, but would really like to bid, if able,
would be glad to pay for shipping! Thanks much.........j |

Thanks for the interest in these magazines and I'm sorry about not being able to ship. All of my stash (books, bats, mitts, guides...) is coming straight from storage to The National and I can't promise that I will have time for any trips to the post office. My wife and I are going thru the hectic process of transitioning from one house to splitting our time between two condos. As a veteran of The National, I decided that it would be more fun to take a few days off from work and put all this stuff directly into the hands of collectors, than just give it to some eBay seller. This lot will include about 30 different issues.
