SGC to PSA
 

I need the advise of some of you veteran collectors.I'm upgrading my 1956 set so that all major cards plus all Yankees and Dodgers cards are graded 6 or 7. All the cards are graded by PSA except for six that are SGC 80 to 84. Should I spend the money to have these six cards graded by PSA. If I do should I break them out of their holders before I send them in. I've never sent any cards to PSA to be graded and would probably join their $199 Platinum club for a year if I decide to. Would it make a difference when I decide to sell the set in the future if some of the cards were SGC and not PSA?

i don't think it matters since most of your cards aren't graded....if every one was graded i would have them graded psa for the uniformity .....also the fact they are 6s and 7s and not 8s i wouldn't bother with the time and expense as well

I agree, unless you're building a set for the registry leave them as is. Any increased value going from an sgc 7 to a psa 7 would be minimal at best, and probably not worth the grading and shipping fees. Not to mention the chance that they don't cross or receive a lower grade. I would leave them alone personally.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I'll take you advise and just leave them in the SGC holders. I recently sold my 48 Bowman, 52,53 and 54 Topps sets and the buyer made the comment that he would break the SGC and Beckett graded cards out and sale them raw because buyers only wanted PSA graded cards. That's why I was thinking about having the cards regraded.

what was the average grade of the 1954 and 1952 sets

1952 set was an overall EX set. Real nice centered cards #1 to 310.
The the 54 set was EX to EXMt with the Aaron being a 7.
