The artist must have liked baseball cards
2 Attachment(s)
As we all know Topps not only produces baseball cards, but other non-sports cards covering many subjects.
One product that Topps makes is Star Wars trading cards. For a few years now Topps has been sending various artists blank cards and had them sketch a character or scene from a particular Star Wars movie. These sketch cards were then inserted into packs for some lucky collector to pull. In the past, I've owned a few of these sketch cards which I got from buying out a dealer who wanted out of the hobby. Both of the sketch cards I owned were autographed by the artist, which are more appealing to people who collect them. I ended up selling the sketch cards, making a little profit and used the money to purchase a few baseball cards for my collection. While cruising Ebay the other night, I came across this sketch card and kinda got the impression that the artist must have been inspired by 1962 Topps baseball cards or was a fan of them. Jantz |
