Need Some Help With "To Grade Or Not To Grade" Question
Not sure what to do with this one.
I bought it for resale, but am not sure if I should slab it or sell as is. The top border of the front has either some sort of extra printing or wet sheet transfer from another card. If this card would grade at a 6 or 6.5 without taking that into consideration, how much will this knock it down? Would it be given an "mk" qualifier? I'm talking PSA technical grades here...not "eye appeal" grades. If it would likely get knocked down a bunch I will just sell as is. Thanks for any help. My guess is 4(mk)

Psa 5 st

Psa 5 (pd)

I would probably get it graded...
The only question is will the value increase more than the cost of the grading? I would probably get it graded if I were selling it.

If you're worried about the PSA qualifier why not send it to SGC? To me it looks more like a printing defect than a mark or stain. I would think 5 or 6 with the possible pd qualifier.

Say what you want about PSA, but the "qualifier" is maybe the dumbest invention in third-party grading. All of my T206s are PSA 10 (CR) CR = Creases & Corner Damage |

The entire purpose of TPG is to identify the hard-to-see flaws in an otherwise immaculate piece of cardboard. If a real blazer gets a 4, you know there is a hairline crease. What you are really advocating for is a PSA 9 (CR). It makes no sense to have qualifiers for some flaws but not others. And why would you need a qualifer for centering or miscut? A miscut card is the most obvious flaw imaginable.

Even with the good centering, I think 4.5 to 5 given the corners. Then, you'd have to think although it's not guaranteed there would be a markdown for the unknown colorization issue in top border (do I see same issue although slight on bottom as well?). I would lean towards selling as is - I don't think an ungraded card in this condition would raise a red flag with collectors and you might get a "hope premium" - once it comes back with a low grade, it removes any doubt......
