Eddie Plank at a fraction of the cost
|
We have a code on this board about outing auctions. I know the T206 has a 99.44% chance of being a fake, but the second card in the auction may be what people are actually bidding on.
|
The point is he's trying to sell the t206 one.
"The picture of the GIA authenticity I thought was part of the Philadelphia Caramel card. But it goes to a photo signed by Roger Maris. However, both cards are encapsulated and are serial numbered." He's claiming that their authentic by a GAI authenticity paper that has nothing to do with EITHER card. Sketchy photos that you can barely see anything including the GAI authenticity info. I highly doubt anything is real in this auction. So if this is outing then shame on me. I'm trying to make people AVOID this mistake. |

If it was just the fake Plank I wouldn't have had a problem. Obviously, it's a buyer beware situation. It's odd that one of the cards is likely real and the other is fake, with a certification that doesn't belong to the group. Add to the fact that it's a seller with 7 feedbacks, and everyone on this board already knows not to bid on it, right? If you had posted it with the terms "Beware everyone; the T206 Plank in the invented holder is a fake!" I wouldn't have had as much of a problem.
I considered posting about it as well, but I was going to wait until it closed, since I didn't see any real risk of someone here actually bidding in this auction. |
I'm sorry if I offended you are you a moderator ??? As far as I knew only Leon was. I don't believe either card is genuine. It seem's like you're getting awfully touchey for no reason unless you're trying to sell that.
|
Not a moderator. Not trying to "sell that."
Just a guy who likes to find stuff on eBay. |

I don't think an item with the title Eddie Plank T206 is going to fly under the radar....
If you want to take the .0000000006 chance that either card is real/worth the $$, have at it. Either way, I saw the auction long before Josh posted it and I'm guessing so did many other board members. I had the same general sentiment as Leon and wouldn't go near the auction with a 50 foot pole. Josh, I have zero problem with your thread (not that my approval really counts for much :D). |
Well, it "closed" at $3,000 to a bidder who has bid on all of the seller's items, on nobody else's items, and made the bid back on May 24th. So it doesn't look like anyone got hurt with this item.
|
Josh you did nothing wrong.

I see nothing wrong with outing a scam seller and auction. |
Well I'm glad that the general consensus is that I did nothing wrong. Last thing I would want was to be banned from here. Not sure how that happens but I'm sure it has happened. But as someone who's been on this site everyday since joining I'd sure hate to be banned.
|
I always appreciate other members calling out fake auctions I see no problem. It would be wrong if you called out an ongoing auction for T206 BL 460 and the back wasn't mentioned in the listing.
|
It's all fun and games until the "code" is broken on a bs auction.

bidding pattern...
over $3300 and some really interesting bidding activity....Gee, the underbidder to the 0 feedback bidder, has bid on a large percentage of this sellers items recently. How is that for a coincidence?
