Very rare, very neat item. Per the PSA Ticket Pop Report there are NONE of these graded. You may then be the owner of the only one in existence.

1938 was a memorable year for the Chicago Cubs. This pass covers one of the most famous walk off homers in baseball history, the Homer in the Gloamin'.

The Pittsburgh Pirates had led the National League for much of the 1938 season, but when the final month of the season came, the Pirates began to falter. By the time they came to Chicago late in September for a three-game series, the Chicago Cubs were one and a half games behind the Pirates in the standings. The Cubs won the first game on the 27th by a 2–1 score, which left the Pirates still in first place with 85 wins and 59 losses, and the Cubs trailing by half a game at 86–61.

The game of September 28, 1938, reached the bottom of the ninth inning with the score tied at 5 runs apiece. With darkness descending on a Wrigley Field which did not yet have artificial lighting, the umpires ruled that the ninth inning would be the last to be played.

At the time, suspended game rules did not provide for suspending games due to darkness. The game would have to have been replayed in its entirety the following day, prior to the scheduled third game of the series.

Hartnett came to bat with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. With a count of 0 balls and 2 strikes, Hartnett connected on a Mace Brown pitch, launching the ball into the darkness, before it eventually landed in the left-center field bleachers for a game-winning home run. The stadium erupted into pandemonium as players and fans stormed the field to escort Hartnett around the bases.

1938 also was Dizzy Dean's 1st year with the Cubs finishing 7-1 with a 1.81 ERA.

Last, the Cubs made their 4th World Series appearance in 10 years, but would lose to Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig and the New York Yankees in 4 Games. Lou's final World Series performance. His career would end games into the 1939 season.

The Ticket itself is in Mint to Near Mint Condition, white throughout with 4 sharp corners, the wear and staining you see in the pix are only on the holder, not the ticket itself.
