Totally blown away with this HOF piece I picked up!!!
With over 1,000 HOF autos and several amazing multi-signed pieces in my collection, it takes a lot to get me impressed.
Well it happened today. I went and personally picked up my most recent auction pickup. I was so excited to see it because there was a major autograph on the piece that I saw and neither the item description nor the JSA Certificate mention this player. Would love to hear what everyone thinks about them. First off, here are the pics... http://sportscardalbum.com/c/2ld17xf0.jpg http://sportscardalbum.com/c/90606oc9.jpg These are two Hall of Fame Programs from the 1983 Induction. Someone must have spent some serious time acquiring all of these autos. They all totally missed the Roy Campanella auto in the middle of the second program. Here is a list of the signers: Program 1: 1 Joe Cronin 2 Bill Dickey 3 Al Lopez 4 Willie Mays 5 Billy Herman 6 Bob Feller 7 Luke Appling 8 Monte Irvin 9 Enos Slaughter 10 Joe DiMaggio 11 Willie Stargell 12 Ernie Banks 13 Harmon Killebrew 14 Robin Roberts 15 Warren Spahn 16 James Bell 17 Eddie Mathews 18 Johnny Mize 19 Whitey Ford 20 Brooks Robinson 21 Reggie Jackson 22 Mickey Mantle 23 Frank Robinson 24 Hank Aaron 25 Don Drysdale 26 Stan Musial 27 Yogi Berra 28 Willie McCovey 29 Ted Williams 30 Bill Terry 31 Ralph Kiner 32 Pete Rose 33 Buck Leonard 34 Joe Sewell 35 Juan Marichal 36 Duke Snider 37 Sandy Koufax Program 2: 1 Tom Seaver 2 Lou Boudreau 3 Red Schoendienst 4 Luis Aparicio 5 Billy Williams 6 Lou Brock 7 George Kell 8 Al Kaline 9 Al Barlick 10 Phil Niekro 11 Rick Ferrell 12 Johnny Bench 13 A.B. Chandler 14 Rod Carew 15 Jim Palmer 16 Hal Newhouser 17 Fergie Jenkins 18 Ray Dandridge 19 Pee Wee Reese 20 Roy Campanella 21 Carl Yastrzemski 22 Early Wynn 23 Don Sutton 24 Gaylord Perry 25 Steve Carlton 26 Joe Morgan 27 Tony Perez 28 Jim Hunter 29 Bob Gibson 30 Charlie Gehringer 31 Bob Doerr 32 Leo Durocher 33 Bob Lemon 34 Rollie Fingers 35 Hoyt Wilhelm A total of 72 autos. 71 HOFers and Pete Rose. Just unbelievable. Should I add more to it or leave it as is??? |
You should post this in the autograph section.

Very nice!
Great piece! I have a similar item (HOF bat signed by a ton of HOFs) and it has just been sitting there. Last summer, Rickey Henderson was in town as roving batting instructor for the local minor league team and I brought the bat to the game (very nervous!) and waited until it was over and Rickey took a look at it and said "I can't sign that because my agent would be mad at me". Presumably because it was a bat and typically gets $200 or so to sign bats.
Long story short....I've given up on adding to it because of Rick the "_ rick". I should have known as I've seen how Rickey treats his fans on occasion. Thanks for sharing and oh by the way, my bat also has Rose so go Pete go! Peace, Mike PS It is pretty uncommon to see Ted, Mick and Joe on the same piece. A lot of items have 1 or 2 but not always all 3 so BRAVO to that find! |
I absolutely LOVE these pieces related to the HOF that have massive quantities of autographs on them. Especially when the image is HOF related. These are right in my wheelhouse. So impressive.

Thanks for the compliments. I really love it.
I am debating adding more HOFers from the same period to the piece. What do you guys think?? I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. |
I think you should add to it given the chance. So many of those already on have passed away and there are not many more from that era still living. I can only think of a handful still alive and signing that isn't already on one of the programs.
Yaz, Nolan Ryan and Bobby Doerr are the only three that pop in my head. I'm sure there are more though. Of course that depends on when this "era" ends in your mind. Congrats though. Great piece! Drew Edit. Just noticed Doerr and Yaz on the second one. Who is left then? |

Very nice item. It's really unfortunate that multisigned items really do not get the same sort of financial love that single signed items do. I have a great number of multisigned items including many HOF yearbooks/programs similar to yours and love them. The problem is that you really don't get back your per auto investment when you go to sell. That's kind of the rub with adding more to it.
Even though you will not increase the value proportionally by adding extra players, I just love this type of stuff, so I would definitely add to it if I could safely. Once completed, I think they would look very nice framed up side by side. Sort of like these 2 magazines I have. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...4-08235107.jpg |
BTW, here are a couple of mine in the same vein
